Bancha & Hojicha

Bancha & Hojicha

Bancha is a traditional Japanese green tea made from later summer harvests, often containing larger leaves and stems. This later harvest gives bancha a softer character and naturally lower caffeine content than sencha. Bancha is also commonly used as the base for hōjicha, a roasted Japanese green tea known for its warm, nutty notes of caramel and toasted bread. The roasting process gives hōjicha its distinctive reddish-brown color and especially low caffeine content, making both teas mild and easy to enjoy throughout the day.
