Organic Seian Matcha—Hand-picked and stone-ground ceremonial grade
Organic Seian Matcha is a rare first harvest tea grown under shade in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto by Mr. Nakanishi.
The tea plants are covered with a double layer of shading for up to 35 days before harvest. Once the second layer is applied, up to 95% of the sunlight is blocked. This slow shading process keeps the leaves small and tender while increasing the level of amino acids (L-theanine) responsible for the deep sweetness and mellow umami characteristic of high-quality Japanese teas.
Only the youngest spring leaves are carefully picked and immediately processed—steamed, dried, and refined before stems and coarse material are removed. The tea is then stored in its tencha form before being slowly ground on traditional stone mills. The result is a vibrant green matcha with exceptional smoothness and depth, suitable for both usucha (thin tea) and koicha (thick tea) without bitterness.
In the cup: smooth, thick, and distinctly sweet with a beautifully balanced umami. A matcha that invites both focus and tranquility.
