Azmaya Hira Kyūsu & Cups
The perfect tea set for enjoying sencha and your other favorite Japanese teas.

A teapot handcrafted from red clay in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture by Takasuke Tōen, one of Tokoname's most renowned kyūsu makers, using traditional Japanese ceramic techniques. Left unglazed both inside and out, the teapot has a smooth tactile finish that highlights the natural beauty of the clay. An extra-fine ceramic mesh filter is integrated into the interior, carefully filtering out small tea particles while allowing the leaves to open fully during brewing. A delicate spout ensures a precise and effortless pour.

Paired with the teapot are two Kumidashi teacups crafted from porcelain made with stone sourced from Amakusa and fired at the Shiratake-gama kiln in Hasami, Nagasaki. Rather than over-refining the clay, the artisans preserve its natural qualities. A soft ash glaze gives the porcelain a delicate soft green tone.

Traditionally used for serving sencha to guests, the Kumidashi shape is characterized by its low, open form, designed to enhance both the aroma and appreciation of the tea.
